The 2025 Faldo Junior Tour stop in Kuala Lumpur has wrapped up, and what a memorable week it’s been. For many of the players, this event was more than just a competition; it was the second stop on the Malaysian swing, following last week’s event at The Els Club Desaru Coast. But beyond that, it was the chance to earn a place in the Asia Grand Final, an opportunity that has all the players excited for what’s next in their golfing careers.
Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) hosted the event for the very first time, and they knocked it out of the park. The course, renowned for its stunning layout and world-class facilities, provided a true test for all the competitors. A big thank you goes to General Manager Adam Calver and the entire team at KLGCC for making this event so special. It’s clear that everyone involved worked hard behind the scenes to ensure everything went smoothly, and the players truly felt welcomed.
In the Boys Under 16 category, Jaehoon Cheong claimed victory with a score of +2 (218), after rounds of 75, 72, and 71. His strong finish earned him the win, with Geon Kang close behind in second at +5 (221), posting rounds of 75, 73, and 73. Both players showed great skill and will be ones to watch in future tournaments.
In the Boys Under 21 division, Nathaniel Lee triumphed with a total score of +1 (217), after rounds of 74, 72, and 71. His solid play throughout the event secured him both the Boys Under 21 title and the Overall Championship honour. Aiden Kei bin Ahmad Shaharuddin, second place with +7 (223) after rounds of 71, 74, and 78, gave Nathaniel a tough challenge all the way to the end.
In the Girls Under 16 category, Wang Xin Yao finished on top with +5 (221), after rounds of 75, 78, and a brilliant 68, the low round of the week. Lynn Choi, second place with +19 (235), played solid golf with rounds of 79, 76, and 80, pushing Wang Xin Yao all the way.
Finally, in the Girls Under 21 division, Evelyn Yeoh took the win with +40 (256) after rounds of 84, 87, and 85. Eireen Syafeeya Efizan, who finished second with +51 (267), showed resilience throughout the tournament with rounds of 91, 86, and 90. Both players should be proud of their performances as they look ahead to the Asia Grand Final.
This tournament wasn’t just about winning, it was about the experience and opportunity to showcase the incredible talent emerging from the junior ranks in Asia. The event at KLGCC was a massive success, and we’re already looking forward to its second rendition. For the winners, the road to the Asia Grand Final has begun, and we can’t wait to see how they all progress. The future of golf in Asia is certainly looking bright.
