The May half-term saw an incredible exhibition of junior golf, as more than 600 young players from across England, Scotland and Wales took part in the Faldo Futures Regional Finals, an unforgettable week that brought smiles, great golf, and no shortage of proud moments for players and parents alike.
Now in just its second year, the Faldo Futures has quickly become a special fixture on the junior golf calendar, giving children aged 7 to 12 a taste of competitive golf in a fun, friendly, and inclusive environment. With events held at ten different clubs across the UK last week, the scale and energy of the Regional Finals showed just how much the Futures has grown in such a short time, and how much clubs, families, and communities are embracing it.
“It’s been a fantastic week for so many of our young players,” said Matthew Faldo, Director of the Faldo Series. “The level of talent on display has been remarkable, and what stands out even more is the enthusiasm these juniors bring. It’s great to see them embracing the Futures and growing their love for the game.”
With 200 players now earning their place in the Faldo Futures Final at The Belfry this August, there was plenty at stake, but the atmosphere remained relaxed and supportive, with each and every venue doing a brilliant job of making the day special for every child involved.
At Worsley Park, 12-year-old Jeremy Ju from Hazel Grove Golf Club impressed with a three-under 36 to win his age group, while over at John O’Gaunt, Hayden Lai-Kent (Longcliffe Golf Club) played beautifully to post a -1 (37) and take out the Boys 7–8 division.
Carus Green saw another tight finish, with Lachlan Tod (Southport & Ainsdale) carding a steady level-par 35 to edge out his division, while at Sunningdale Heath, Jacob Taylor (Cottesmore Golf & Country Club) lit up the course with a brilliant two-under 30.
There were big performances in the girls’ divisions, too. At Matfen Hall, Tilly Bordman (Howley Hall Golf Club) fired a stunning three under par (33) to claim the Girls 9–10 title, one of the best scores of the week. Lauren Cowley (Broome Manor) held her nerve at Cumberwell Park with a 37 to win the Girls 11–12 division, while Florrie Collins (Chelmsford Golf Club) matched that score to win at The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club.
Further highlights included Nicholas Locke (Staddon Heights) taking out his age group at Woodbury Park, and in Scotland, Harry Stewart (Fort William Golf Club) posting a composed 33 at Crieff Golf Club. At Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, the standard was sky-high, with no fewer than nine players shooting level par or better in the Boys 11–12 division.
With just one Regional Final remaining, at Castle Royle Golf Club, attention now begins to turn to the big one – the Faldo Futures Final at The Belfry on August 20 & 21, hosted by Sir Nick during the week of the British Masters. For the 200 young golfers who’ve qualified, it promises to be a week they’ll never forget.
A huge thank you goes out to all ten golf clubs that hosted us for last week’s Regional Finals. Their support, hospitality, and commitment to providing a stage for junior golf were key to making the week such a success.
Golf clubs that want to get involved in 2026 can now register to host a Faldo Futures Qualifying Event. It’s a fantastic way to support junior golf, build your junior section, and bring new families to your club. Visit www.faldoseries.com to find out more and register.
