The Faldo Junior Tour came back to Malaysia this week for its second edition, with 30 players competing across The Els Club Desaru Coast’s Ocean Course from 8-10 September. The Ernie Els-designed layout provided a genuine test throughout three rounds, and the results reflected a field of genuine quality across all four divisions.
Enxi Wang of Girls 16 & Under delivered the standout performance of the week, finishing at seven under par (212) to claim the overall championship and her divisional title. Her rounds of 71-70-71 were exceptional in consistency, and she ended up 11 shots clear of her nearest competitor, Sirikarn Vichkovitten, who finished at four over (223).
Woo Sung Sun won the Boys 21 & Under title at three under par (216) with rounds of 68-76-72. He held off Aiden Roberts, who finished at one over (220). Muhammad Afham bin Othman took the Boys 16 & Under division, also at three under (216), with Maru Choi in second at one under (218).
Chloe Ng claimed the Girls 21 & Under crown at two over par (221), finishing with a strong final round of 68. She edged out Daul Kim, who came in at 33 over (252).
The field represented six different nationalities, with players from Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and China all competing. The Ocean Course’s coastal setting and demanding design kept scoring honest across the week, and the level of play underscored Malaysia’s growing presence in regional junior golf.
Harris Farouk Abdullah, General Manager of The Els Club Desaru Coast, and Vijay Divakaran, Golf Operations and Service Manager, ensured the event ran smoothly. Sports Journey, the title sponsor, continued their commitment to developing junior golf pathways in the region.
Category winners now advance to the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at Laguna Lang Co in Vietnam in April 2027, where they will compete alongside qualifiers from across Asia for one of the circuit’s most coveted titles.
