The Faldo Junior Tour South II event concluded triumphantly at the picturesque Isle of Purbeck Golf Club, showcasing the region’s most promising young golf talents.
Theo Anderson Gannon (Burnham & Berrow) emerged victorious taking the overall title and Boys 21 & Under category demonstrating exceptional skill and composure throughout the competition. Theo commented, ‘my game has been in a good place recently, and I am happy that it has all come together in the tricky conditions this week’. His remarkable performance in the wind whilst under pressure secured him the top spot and WAGR status.
Local favourite Dominic Harrington (Ferndown) took the Boys 16 & Under title after recovering from a tough opening round to fend off strong competition to secure his place at the Europe Grand Final.
Ava Bates (Wentworth) claimed victory in the Girls’ 21 & Under category, impressing both spectators and fellow competitors with her precision and determination. Her consistent play and strategic approach to the challenging course earned her the well-deserved title and finally able to gain WAGR status too, ‘I am so glad the search is finally over to get on the WAGR!’ said Ava.
Arianna Virik (Coventry Hearsall) and Heidi Man (Wentworth) battled it out for the Girls’ 16 & Under category and last remaining spot to Al Ain, UAE in November. Only two shots separate the pair, with Arianna holding her nerve to take the victory.
Each of the winners exemplified the spirit of the Faldo Junior Tour, embodying sportsmanship, dedication, and excellence. The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club provided a stunning backdrop for the event, with its continued renovation project ongoing, it once again proved to be a challenging course contributing to an unforgettable tournament.
The Faldo Junior Tour continues over the summer months with the next event to be held at The Astbury, Shropshire on August 5-7.
