Lynn Choi of South Korea claimed the Overall Championship at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club after a sudden-death playoff with Malaysia’s Muhammad Afham Bin Othman, bringing the final Faldo Junior Tour Asian qualifier for 2025/26 to a dramatic conclusion on the West Course.
Both players finished at one under par after 54 holes, forcing a playoff that was settled on the first extra hole. Playing the par-4 14th, Choi secured par while Afham narrowly missed a five-foot putt that would have extended the contest. It was a cruel way for the playoff to end for the Malaysian, who had posted consistent rounds of 71-68-76, but Choi’s composure under pressure earned her the title and capped off an impressive week with rounds of 71-69-75.
The second edition at KLGCC marked the final qualifying event before the 17th Faldo Series Asia Grand Final at Laguna Lang Co in Vietnam from 22–24 April, making this week the last opportunity for players across the region to secure their place in the flagship event.
Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, one of Malaysia’s most prestigious and historic venues, has long been a cornerstone of the country’s golf landscape. The West Course provided a stern test across all divisions, rewarding accuracy and course management while punishing mistakes—exactly what you’d expect from a club with KLGCC’s pedigree.
In the Boys Under 21 division, Aiden Kei Bin Ahmad Shaharuddin of Malaysia secured the title at even par with rounds of 75-71-70. South Korea’s Ahn Seunghyun pushed hard, closing with the tournament’s low round—a 68 in the final round—to finish second at two over par. His closing effort highlighted the kind of scoring possible when conditions allowed, but Aiden’s steady play across three days proved enough.
Muhammad Afham claimed the Boys Under 16 title despite the playoff disappointment, his one-under total of 215 comfortably ahead of South Korea’s Maru Choi, who finished second at nine over par.
Jasmin Bradley of the United Kingdom took the Girls Under 16 division at nine over par with rounds of 79-73-73, demonstrating composure on a demanding course. Jane Sim finished second at 23 over.
In the Girls Under 21 category, Ngo Yi Belle of Singapore finished as runner-up at one over par after posting a strong final-round 68—matching Ahn’s effort as the joint-low round of the tournament across both genders.
The event carried World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status, adding competitive weight to a tournament that drew 60 players and served as the final gateway to the Asia Grand Final. Category winners now join qualifiers from across the region in Vietnam, where they will compete on a Sir Nick Faldo-designed championship layout.
Special thanks go to Adam Calver, General Manager of Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, and his team for their commitment to hosting the Faldo Series for a second consecutive year and delivering an exceptional week of competitive junior golf.
With the Asia qualifying circuit now complete, attention turns to Laguna Lang Co and the 17th Asia Grand Final—where the region’s best junior golfers will compete for the title of continental champion.
