The Faldo Junior Tour 14 & Under category headed to the stunning Northumberland coast for a memorable two-day event at Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course, where the players faced a true links test of golf in some exceptionally challenging conditions.

With strong coastal winds and persistent rain throughout the two days, the juniors were forced to demonstrate patience, resilience and excellent course management as they battled the elements.

It was Ricky Mohun of Delamere Forest who ultimately mastered the demanding conditions to claim the overall championship.

Mohun carded rounds of 77 and 78 for a two-day total of 155 (+15), finishing two shots clear of fellow Cheshire player Charlie Thompson of Styal Golf Club.

In conditions that made scoring particularly difficult, Ricky’s consistency across the two rounds proved decisive. His ability to navigate the wind and wet weather and keep his score under control ultimately secured a well-deserved Faldo Junior Tour title.

The victory represents an excellent achievement for Ricky and Delamere Forest, and another important milestone in his development as a young competitive golfer who will now have the opportunity to test himself against some of the best juniors in Europe as he qualifies for the Faldo Junior Tour Europe Grand Final.

The girls’ division was won by Faldo Futures Ambassador Tilly Bordman of Howley Hall in Yorkshire, who produced a strong performance to take the title with a total of 175.

Tilly finished ahead of Chloe Wilson of Abbeydale, securing an impressive victory in equally challenging conditions.

The win comes at an exciting time for Tilly, who has a busy few months ahead. As a Faldo Futures Ambassador, she will now head to The Belfry next week to compete in the Faldo Futures Final, before representing the Tour at the Faldo Junior Tour Europe Grand Final in Al Ain in November.

Her Dunstanburgh Castle victory provides an excellent confidence boost ahead of two major events and is further recognition of her continued development as one of the leading young golfers at just twelve years old.

Dunstanburgh Castle provided a spectacular but unforgiving stage for the event. The exposed coastal layout was made even more demanding by strong winds and persistent wet weather, with players having to carefully consider every shot.

The challenging conditions made good decision-making and course management just as important as ball striking. Despite the weather, the juniors showed fantastic determination throughout the two days, embracing the challenge and continuing to compete with a positive attitude.

Following two successful Faldo Junior Tour 14 & Under events this season the Faldo Series will look to replicate these events in 2027 to provide further opportunities for the younger elite junior golfer.
