How it Works

Play in events that test you against the very best amateurs in the world. An opportunity to gain exemptions to DP World Tour and Challenge Tour Events. In 2023 The Elite Tour is made up of 8 individual events in the UK, Europe and USA.

Faldo Elite Rankings accumulates your best 4 positions in the season at any events where the winner will have Challenge Tour exemption for events in 2024.

Rules of Entry

  • Age as of 1st January of Year of Schedule
  • Handicap limit of 5.0 (Cat 1)
    • Based on highest WAGR position
    • Lowest handicaps first
    • All to be cat 1 golfers 5.0 and under
    • Handicap determined on the date of tournament
  • If a player is
    • A Faldo Series member and in top 1000 WAGR rankings, you gain first entry, on a first come first served basis
    • A top 1000 ranked players, without membership – Will be registered and informed 6 weeks prior to event. (entry based on ranking order)
    • WAGR ranked between 1001 – 2000 who are members.  You will be registered and informed of entry status 5 weeks prior to the event date. (entry based on ranking order)
    • WAGR ranked between 1001 – 2000.  You will be registered and informed of entry status 3 weeks prior to the event date. (entry based on ranking order)
    • WAGR ranked over 2000.  You will be registered and informed of entry status 2 weeks prior to the event date. (entry based on ranking order)

The Faldo Elite Tour Ranking FAQ's

What are the rankings?

The Faldo Elite Tour rankings are the accumulation of ranking points based on top 20 finishes in any Elite Tour Event. The rankings will take account of the best 4 finishes for the end of season rankings. For 2023 running alongside this will be two Sprints, where the points will be totalised from events 1-3 and 4-6 respectively taking account of the best 2 scores, all points get carried forward to the over all rankings.

What are The Faldo Rankings Rules?

  • Ranking Points are only available in Faldo Elite Tour Events
  • Points Available to the top 20 players per event
  • If placed outside of top 20 - no ranking points are awarded
  • Points are accumulated from a players best 4 events and are a combined total to give a ranking position.
  • Tied positions receive the combined points value of the tied players placings and divided by the number of players
  • The points tariff is static and does not get adjusted for: Field Size, Field Strength or Holes Played
  • The Faldo Amateur, the end of season final event, is a double point ranked event. Points will be awarded using the same formula as all other Faldo Elite Tour events but are double the normal value.
  • The leading players in the rankings on 10th January 2024 will be eligible for exemptions to Challenge Tour events in the 2024 season as per the Exemption table
  • Ranked in number of points highest to lowest
  • Website to show top 10 only

The points are distributed by the below table for the top 20 in every event.

The distribution of points is approximately:

  • 1st to 5th place
    -> 60% points awarded
  • 6th to 10th place
    -> 20% points awarded
  • 11th to 20th place
    -< 20% points awarded

What tournaments have minimum point value?

The first 7 events have the same points structure regardless of volume of holes played, size or strength of field. The 8th event The Faldo Amateur carries double points on the same points structure as all Elite Events.

What are Double Points?

This is associated to the final event of the season the Faldo Amateur.

The Faldo Amateur

This season ending finale takes place in Florida at the beginning of January 2024. This is a major amateur event that comes at the conclusion of The Faldo Elite Tour, providing the opportunity for all players to claim a top 20 ranked place as the points are doubled and the champions are crowned.

What Tour Starts are Available?

Challenge Tour starts are available to winners of the Sprints and the overall Rankings. Full details will be released throughout the 2023 Season.

What are The Faldo Ranking End of Season Winners?

Following the conclusion of all 8 events the winners will be announced on 10th January 2024, following the results at The Faldo Amateur. Winners will gain Challenge Tour exemptions during the 2024 season, based on a players best 4 positions in the 8 Faldo Elite Tour events. .

What is Sprint 1?

Following the results of the first 3 events, the winners will be announced on the 22nd May 2023 and will gain Challenge Tour exemptions during the 2023 season. The points will be based on a players best 2 positions in the first 3 Faldo Elite Tour events. All points are carried over into the end of season Faldo Elite Rankings.

What is Sprint 2?

Following the results of the Events 4-6, the winners will be announced on the 31st July 2023 and will gain Challenge Tour exemptions during the 2023 season. The points will be based on a players best 2 positions in the first 3 Faldo Elite Tour events. All points are carried over into the end of season Faldo Elite Rankings.

When is the winner announced?

Sprint 1 – Following Event 3 on 22nd May

Sprint 2 – Following Event 6 on 31st July

Faldo Elite Tour Ranking Winner – Following the Faldo Amateur around 10th Jan 2024.
